CamMakes3D ("CamMakes3D," "we," "us," or "our") operates the website https://cammakes3d.com (the "Site") and provides downloadable desktop software applications (each, an "App," and together with the Site, the "Services"). This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, when we share it, and the choices you have.
By using the Services you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.
California Notice at Collection
This Notice at Collection is provided pursuant to the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the CPRA. We collect the categories of personal information listed in Section 2 below. We use these categories for the business and commercial purposes described in Section 3, including direct marketing and promotional communications opted into during the checkout process. We do not "sell" your personal information, nor do we "share" your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not collect or process "sensitive personal information" as defined by California law. We retain your personal information in accordance with the criteria described in Section 7.
1. Who we are
CamMakes3D is a sole proprietorship based in Knox County, Tennessee, USA. For any privacy question or request, contact us at chris@cammakes3d.com.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Personal Information Categories Mapped to CCPA & GDPR
The following details the specific pieces of information we collect, along with their statutory California categories:
| CCPA Category | Specific Data Collected | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Identifiers | Name, email address, billing address, shipping address (physical goods only), IP address, and unique license keys. | Provided by you during purchase, via an optional marketing checkbox at checkout, support, or activation; collected automatically via server logs. |
| Commercial Information | Records of software licenses purchased, free trial history, and transaction history. | Provided by you and generated during checkout. |
| Internet or Other Electronic Network Activity Information | Application version, operating system name/version, request times, basic technical diagnostics, and strictly necessary cookies. | Collected automatically when using the Site or initiating license checks. |
| Geolocation Data | Imprecise location derived from IP address (e.g., country or region level for tax/sales verification). | Collected automatically via server logs. |
2.2 Device and Licensing Identifiers
To operate licensing and prevent abuse, our Apps generate a non-reversible machine fingerprint (a one-way hash of stable device identifiers β we do not receive your raw hardware IDs) and send it, along with your license key, the application version, and your operating-system name and version, to our license server at cammakes3d.com.
2.3 Cookies
The Site uses cookies that are strictly necessary for it to function (for example, shopping cart and checkout management). We do not use third-party advertising, analytics, or cross-site tracking cookies.
2.4 How we handle your files
- Downloadable Apps: Our Apps process your artwork and project files locally on your computer. We do not upload, transmit, or store your images, designs, or project files from the Apps.
- Online tools on the Site: Some tools on the Site work by processing a file you upload on our server to generate your result (for example, tracing or laying out an image). Those uploads are held temporarily in your private working area only to produce your output and are automatically deleted after a short period. We do not use your uploaded files for any other purpose.
3. How we use your information
We use personal information to:
- process and fulfill your orders and deliver license keys;
- activate, validate, and enforce software licenses and free trials (including the one-trial-per-person and one-per-machine limit);
- provide customer support and respond to bug reports and feature requests;
- send you transactional messages (order confirmations, license emails, support replies, and important product notices);
- send you promotional materials, newsletters, updates, marketing emails, and special offers regarding our Services if you opt in during checkout;
- operate, secure, debug, and improve the Services; and
- comply with legal obligations, including tax and record-keeping requirements.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party cross-context behavioral advertising.
4. Legal bases for processing (EEA/UK users)
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we process personal information on these legal bases:
- Performance of a Contract: Fulfilling your orders, managing your software licenses, and delivering technical support.
- Legitimate Interests: Securing the Services, preventing license abuse, troubleshooting technical errors, and improving our products.
- Consent: Your explicit, affirmative choice to receive promotional updates and marketing campaigns (such as selecting an optional checkbox during the checkout process).
- Legal Obligation: Complying with applicable tax laws, accounting rules, and corporate record-keeping requirements.
5. How we share information
We share personal information only with service providers who help us run the Services, and only as needed to fulfill their business purpose:
- Payment Processors (Stripe and PayPal/Venmo): They process your financial data and, for sales-tax purposes, related order metadata. Their handling of your information is governed by their own privacy policies.
- Hosting and Infrastructure (Render): Hosts the Site and the secure license/reporting server.
- Email Delivery & Marketing: Zoho Mail or specialized third-party email platforms. They transmit our transactional messages, automated licenses, customer support emails, and marketing newsletters.
Our own license server (operated by CamMakes3D) stores license records, activations, machine fingerprints, and trial and report data. We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our agreements, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of CamMakes3D, our customers, or others.
6. Payment processing
Payments are handled securely by Stripe and PayPal/Venmo. When you pay, your card or account details are transmitted directly to the processor over an encrypted connection. CamMakes3D receives confirmation of payment and limited order details (such as the last four digits of the card, card brand, or a payment token) but does not receive, view, or store your full card number.
7. Data retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy:
- Order and tax records: Retained for as long as required by global tax authorities and law (typically 7 years).
- License and activation records: Retained for the active life of the software license so we can support reactivation, seat transfers, and software updates.
- Marketing distribution list records: Retained until you opt out, unsubscribe, or request that your contact details be deleted.
- Support and report messages: Retained for as long as useful to support you, after which they are deleted or anonymized.
8. Email Marketing Choices & Opt-Out
If you choose to receive marketing or promotional emails from us during checkout, you can opt out at any time. To stop receiving these communications, click the "unsubscribe" link included at the bottom of any marketing email we send you, or send a direct request to chris@cammakes3d.com. Please note that even if you opt out of promotional emails, we will continue to send you transactional or relationship messages regarding your active software licenses, purchases, support requests, or critical technical updates.
9. Your privacy rights
Depending on your geographic location, you have specific legal rights regarding your data:
9.1 EEA and UK Users (GDPR)
You have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing (including an absolute right to object to direct marketing at any time), and to withdraw consent. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local Data Protection Authority if you believe our data processing violates applicable regulations.
9.2 California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)
You have the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to correct inaccuracies, the right to request deletion, and the right to be free from discrimination for exercising your rights. As noted, CamMakes3D does not "sell" or "share" personal information as defined by California statutory law.
To exercise any of these rights, please email chris@cammakes3d.com. We will verify your identity via your associated license key or email account and respond within statutory timelines.
10. Data security and international transfers
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), signed license tokens, and one-way hashing of device identifiers. However, no method of transmission is 100% secure.
CamMakes3D is based in the United States. Our service providers process data in the U.S. and other global jurisdictions. Where cross-border data transfers occur out of the EEA or UK, we rely on appropriate legal safeguards, such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) embedded within our service provider data processing agreements.
11. Children's privacy
The Services are not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it immediately.
12. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the new version here and update the "Last updated" date. Material changes may also be communicated by email or an explicit notice on the Site.
